The main tasks of the Office
In the field of development, the GODEA coordinates and monitors the implementation of the Development Strategy of Slovenia, economic and social reforms, as well as the Resolution on National Development Projects for the Period 2007–2023. It coordinates the preparation of programmes for attaining the Europe 2020 Strategy objectives with the Slovenian bodies and the EU institutions. In cooperation with responsible ministries and government offices, the GODEA designs and coordinates the Slovenian positions related to the OECD. Furthermore, it provides for the inter-ministerial coordination of strategic documents on the basis of which Slovenia can receive EU budget funds. In cooperation with the responsible ministries and government offices, it also steers the programme framework for the functioning of the Slovene Export and Development Bank (SID Bank).
In the field of European affairs, the GODEA coordinates, in cooperation with the responsible ministries and government offices, the activities of the Republic of Slovenia and its representatives in the bodies of the European Union related to all areas, except the foreign policy and defence. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it coordinates the activities of the Republic of Slovenia in negotiations on the association and accession of new countries to the European Union. Furthermore, it coordinates the Slovenian participation in the projects of EU financial and technical assistance to third countries and carries out tasks related to the EU instruments for pre-accession assistance and other types of assistance. It is responsible for classification and publication of documents on the EU-portal. The office also participates in international development cooperation.
