ANNOUNCEMENT: State Secretary Senčar to attend the meeting of General Affairs Council
A regular meeting of the General Affairs Council will take place in Brussels on monday, 26 March 2012 . The major issues on the agenda are the new Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU and the Council's follow-up to the European Council. Slovenia will be represented by Mr Igor Senčar, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The discussion on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014–2020 is nearing the phase of political negotiations. The General Affairs Council is expected to deliberate on the interim report by the Danish Presidency on the state of negotiations, with the main debate of ministers and state secretaries focusing on the proposed partial draft negotiation structure (so-called negotiating box), i.e. the first two of its planned five parts.
The Danish Presidency will present information on the December and March European Council conclusions and on the informal meeting of heads of state or government held at the end of January, as well as its work plans before the June meeting. For the purposes of the forthcoming discussion, the Presidency has prepared a paper covering seven most topical areas: agenda for growth, economic policy, Multiannual Financial Framework, justice and home affairs, climate-related issues, trade and enlargement.
